Fine Ammonium Perchlorate (AP) Particles, <5μm

PSI incorporates Fine and Ultrafine AP in energetics to produce material with unique properties and burn rates.

Capability Description: PSI has developed technologies to repeatably produce fine AP (particle size <5 µm) using tailored grinding operations at the kg/day scale.


Key Features:

Ingredients’ particle sizes are produced using a Vibro energy grinding mill and characterized using a dynamic light scattering (DLS) particle size analyzer. PSI produces particle sizes ranging from sub 2 µm up to 200 µm.


Benefit to Warfighter/Customer:

Fine AP particle sizes allow for uniquely tailorable solid rocket burn-rate profiles for both military and commercial applications.
