PSI is an employee-owned research-focused company, located just outside of Boston, whose mission is to translate science into solutions that solve mission critical needs for our customers, often the US government. We seek both entry level (i.e., new graduate) and intermediate level (at least 5 to 10 years of experience outside of academia) applicants interested in a dynamic combination of design, laboratory, and field work to join our research team.

As a new hire at PSI, you will initially contribute to various existing programs (both in your area of expertise as well as closely related areas), and serve as an intellectual leader in your area of specialization as part of our interdisciplinary team. Working in our collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead your own programs and technologies to address key the challenges and missions of our customers, resulting in a growing technology portfolio.

See http://www.psicorp.com/press-releases for highlights of current programs.

We are broadly interested in candidates with expertise in ANY of the following technical areas (related areas considered):
• Integrated photonics
• Quantum information and quantum networking
• Optical and RF metamaterials
• RF Photonics
• Photonic neural networks and machine learning

Some of the skills that are of value to current programs include (but are not limited to):
• Electromagnetic simulation such as FDTD or FEA
• Experience with integrated photonic foundry tapeouts (including simulation, layout, and optical/electrical testing)
• Inverse design of photonic components
• Optical systems involving compact lasers, detectors, and multi-element optical assemblies
• Semiconductor and/or optical material design and fabrication
• RF system design

Our ideal candidate is curious, growth-oriented, and highly motivated, has a track-record of tackling challenging problems, and has the desire to take ownership on their research direction. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Experience developing and writing successful research proposals is a plus (but not necessary to apply for the position).

A Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or Electrical Engineering is required.

US Citizenship is required.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
