Imperia Batteries, a division of Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI) located in Methuen, Massachusetts, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing battery technology team. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the research, design, development, and testing of next-generation lithium-ion battery technologies for advanced energy storage applications. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative battery solutions from concept through validation while supporting customer-funded research and development programs.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and support R&D programs to develop next generation Li-ion technologies
  • Prepare proposals, program reports and review presentations
  • Design and develop battery and battery pack/module mechanical layout
  • Design thermal management strategies and support thermal analysis
  • System integration and validation through experimental design and simulations
  • Define, establish and execute experimental plans to evaluate battery design
  • Produce drawings, fabrication packages, assembly and test procedures and other documentation related to mechanical design
  • Analyze data and clearly communicate results to cross-functional teams

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field, with 3+ years of experience in the battery field
  • Proficient with CAD programs such as SolidWorks
  • Background in experimental design, data collection and analysis
  • Excellent English written and oral communication
  • Leadership experience in technical programs is preferred

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Pay Range: The estimated annual base salary range for this role is $85K – $98K. The actual salary offered will depend on the candidate’s experience, education, and specialized skills.
