UHT-21

Refractory-modified C/SiC CMCs with service temps well over 3000°F

PSI’s UHT-21 is a refractory-modified C/SiC CMC with service temperatures over 3000°F. Use of the same pre-preg materials systems as the PSC-10 enables seamless integration of this ultra-high temperature CMC to fabrication and production of CMC components.

Capability Description:

The UHT-21 CMCs produced by PSI have service temperatures over 3000°F. These composites are fabricated with a specialized refractory blend and are compatible as a hybrid system with our PSC-10 materials as well as our Direct Z-pin Insertion.

Key Features:

  • Carbon fiber reinforced CMC with a refractory-modified SiC matrix phase
  • Service temperatures over 3000°F
  • Seamless integration with PSC-10 as a hybrid system, compatible with Z-pinning
  • No additional coatings required once components are finished processing at PSI
