Gradient Index Metamaterial Broadband Antenna (GIMBA)

Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI), has been awarded a research program from the U.S. Army to develop a low profile and broadband antenna system to facilitate aircraft to satellite communications.

PSI is developing a broadband metamaterial-based antenna system to enable satellite communications across the entire Ku, K and Ka-band of frequencies (10-40 GHz). The system will be high gain, broadband and have an electrically small footprint by utilizing novel metamaterial concepts.

Modular Collapsible-Hydro-Electric Generator (MCHEG)

Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI) has been awarded a program from the U.S. Marine Corps to design a portable, hydrokinetic generator for use in a wide range of river environments.

PSI’s generator is built from lightweight and high-strength materials with unique joints that allow it to flat-pack for storage and transport. The generator is composed of a set of four, redundant turbine modules that may be quickly deployed to any water flow greater than 0.5 m deep. Once installed in a typical stream, the full system will produce up to 1.5 kW of electricity via a 24 VDC hookup cable.

Optical Quantum Network Time Frequency Multiplexer

Physical Sciences Inc (PSI), has been awarded a research program from the Department of Energy (DOE) to develop photonic chip-based time-to-frequency multiplexers to convert time-bin quantum information to frequency-division multiplexed signals within a single time-bin, effectively ‘stacking’ multiple time bins, that will be transmitted efficiently through fiber and demultiplexed using a complimentary chip.

Elbit Systems of America Partners to Produce Next-generation Night Vision Through DARPA-funded Program

Elbit Systems of America has partnered with Physical Sciences Inc. and Stanford University to produce a next-generation night vision system for America’s Warfighters, offering more capability in a smaller and lighter package. The partnership was created to produce a solution for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) that selected the group to participate in its Enhanced Night Vision in eyeglass form (ENVision) program. The team collaboration on DARPA’s ENVision program will run through October 2023.
