PSI has a long history of developing specialty instrumentation for monitoring atmospheric phenomenology relevant to climate change, through both government and industry sponsorship.

We’re also inventing and producing next generation Li-ion energy systems for demanding applications. We invent, build, and deliver specialized sensors for atmospheric gases and properties for government and commercial customers. We license innovative instrumentation concepts to commercial suppliers across the world for applications such as natural gas leak detection. We also manufacture and deliver specialized Li-ion energy systems for defense applications.

Imperia Batteries

The Imperia Batteries® division of Physical Sciences Inc. develops and produces safe, high energy and power lithium-ion storage systems for DOD applications at a dedicated facility in Wilmington, MA. Based on our customer’s SWAP requirements, Imperia’s design team selects the appropriate cell and energy solutions required to maximize the performance for the application. Specifically, Imperia is able to tailor materials, cell designs, and system-level electronic components depending on customer requirements for form factor, energy density (Wh/L), specific energy (Wh/kg), power density (W/L), and specific power (W/kg). The Wilmington, MA production facility is ISO 9001 certified and contains a dedicated Dry Room for production and an electrochemical testing area with instruments capable of a broad range of analysis techniques.
