PSI’s broad program base in radiological security is derived from our strong background in spectrally-based automatic target recognition. Our Poisson Clutter Split algorithm has been used to provide significant enhancements in detection sensitivity and false alarm rejection across detection platforms ranging from standoff, to portals, to hand-held. We work closely with the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) of DHS to develop these capabilities and recently received a Technical Achievement Award from DNDO for our efforts in this area. PSI is currently working to apply its radiological security capabilities as part of advanced transportation monitoring systems.
