Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI), located just north of Boston, MA seeks rising Juniors and Seniors with experience in Mechanical Engineering, with interest in any of the following areas: mechanical design, prototyping, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, materials science, simulation, or testing for internships supporting several ongoing projects.
PSI is developing a(n)
- Assistive mechanism enabling users to carry medical stretchers for longer distances and with decreased effort
- Underwater hydroelectric generator for mobile electricity generation
- High-temperature seals for aircraft engines
- Vehicle cabin cooling system using ambient air and no refrigerant
- Lightweight folding bridge
Tasks will be assigned based on individual candidate interest and expertise. Interns would be expected to support two projects with responsibilities such as
- Working with PSI engineers to refine component-level requirements and design
- Generating detailed design of products and test fixtures
- Hands-on prototype fabrication
- Conducting stress, finite element, or heat transfer analysis
- Conducting tensile, fracture, or flow resistance testing
- Analyzing test data
- Presenting results and findings to team members
During this internship, the candidate will work with experts in the field to gain experience in mechanical design and testing, prototype fabrication, data analysis, and scientific presentation/communication skills.
This internship may be most beneficial for students pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
