Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI), located just north of Boston, MA seeks a rising junior or senior with some laboratory experience for an internship supporting our high-power microwave and antenna technology efforts.

PSI is developing high-power microwave directed energy weapon systems, antennas, sensors, and source technologies. We are actively pursuing high-power microwave (HPM) directed energy systems for both counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) and vehicle/vessel engine stopping missions.

The responsibilities of the intern supporting this project include:

  • Preparing microwave laboratory test setups and performing S-parameter measurements with a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)
  • Build and test antenna prototypes
  • Prepare magnetron test breadboards (building waveguide assemblies and wiring breadboard sensors/controls)
  • Perform dielectric measurements of aerospace composite materials with a coaxial airline/waveguide and VNA

The candidate intern will support multiple directed energy microwave projects, as well as an additional project aiming to cure aerospace composite materials with microwave radiation. This internship may be most beneficial for students pursuing degrees in electrical engineering, RF engineering/antenna design, or physics.

US Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency is required.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
