Physical Sciences Inc., located north of Boston in Andover, MA, seeks experienced systems engineers to conduct research and development of innovative technologies for structural, thermal, and mechanical systems. Our focus is on prototypes and early-stage pilot-program demonstrations in varied applications from air and space payloads, to squad-level soldier borne technologies to engines and refrigeration.

We currently need individuals with strong educational and work experience background in one or more of materials, structures, controls, and thermodynamics. Our multidisciplinary team tackles different challenges on a weekly basis, so the ability to re-orient to new challenges and analyze from first principles is critical. The suite of technologies under development includes rocket nozzles, scramjet ducts, satellite payloads, spaceborne and airborne antennas, casualty evacuation litters, high-performance compact heat exchangers, and hypersonic vehicle components.

We are seeking an engineer with educational or experiential background in systems engineering. Discipline-specific background in either materials and structures or thermodynamics is a plus. A special talent for designing new systems from clean-sheet design through implementation and testing would be most ideal.

The successful candidate will have worked with one or more of the following: spacecraft design and manufacturing, radar antenna design and manufacturing, composites fabrication, additive manufacturing, heat exchangers, rocket development, or gas turbine engines. Knowledge of machining, heat treating, advanced manufacturing techniques (laser cutting, 3D printing, EDM, e-beam welding etc.) is a plus. Experience with data acquisition, Python/MATLAB, SolidWorks (or other CAD), and prototype assembly/fabrication are desired.

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required. PhD or MS or significant experience are desired.

US Citizenship is required.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
