Lethality
Lethality associated with kinetic energy impact
PSI has multiple tools ranging from fast running models to complex codes addressing lethality associated with a kinetic energy impact. PSI’s fast running model PSI Rod Interaction Program (PSIRIP) addresses the penetration of an aligned rod through a complex multi-layer structure. It determines the residual rod length and residual velocity after penetrating each layer of the structure. Thousands of shotlines are evaluated per minute on a desktop personal computer.
PSI has other models for evaluating the lethality of non-rod impacts that address three distinct vulnerabilities of specific components to impact generated debris fields.
