Medical Automation

Scientists and engineers in the Clinical Technologies group are engaged in R&D to develop “smart” computer-aided medical devices that can help to facilitate medical treatments and eliminate human operator error. Examples of such technologies under development at PSI are an automated, continuous mandibular distractor for distraction osteogenesis of the mandible and a novel sensor for 3-D surgical guidance of orthognathic surgeries.
