Obscurants and Chaff

Simulations have identified material properties and geometries that suggest extraordinary extinction is available for a range of wavelength bands of interest to the DoD. Our capabilities in the fabrication, dissemination and characterization of scalable engineered particles enable the realization new chaff and obscurants predicted by the simulation tools. PSI has demonstrated a range of obscurant and chaff materials that provide high extinction in wavelength regions including UV, visible, IR and RF that can significantly enhance warfighter survivability.
