Photodynamic Therapy

Scientists and engineers in the Clinical Technologies group are engaged in R&D to develop novel optical dosimeters for real-time monitoring and individualized optimization of photodynamic cancer therapy (PDT).  PDT employs compounds that are introduced into the body, selectively retained in cancerous tumors, and then light- activated to photochemically destroy tumors selectively.
