MissionThe mission of the Biomedical Imaging group is to develop innovative biomedical optical systems for use by researchers, clinicians, and other medical personnel in the detection of diseases, the discovery of novel therapies, and greater understanding of the human body from system and organ to sub-cellular and molecular structures. We perform research and development in a wide variety of interdisciplinary programs for the NIH, DoD, and other government and commercial organizations. Some of our work is built on our core competencies in ophthalmology including the development of:
Our retinal tracking ocular interface is currently being sold to researchers interested in functional imaging, SLO, OCT, adaptive optics, multi-focal ERG, low vision studies, etc. We are also engaged in projects that use optics for imaging and therapies for other non-ophthalmic applications, including the development of:
Area Leadership
The Biomedical Imaging group is led by Dr. Daniel Hammer. Dr. Hammer has 15 years experience in the invention, design, development, and application of biomedical optics and instrumentation to a broad range of interdisciplinary research programs.
