Plasma torches are used for a variety of materials processing and chemical processes. PSI is developing a microwave driven plasma torch that produces high temperature gas without wear or contamination from electrodes. The primary applications are the production of atomic species such as oxygen, fluorine and nitrogen for use in processes in the semiconductor and defense industries.
