MissionThe Mission of Q-Peak, Inc.is to provide customers with leading-edge solid state laser and nonlinear optics systems, with activities ranging from basic development efforts through the supply of complete, fieldable lasers.
Core CompetenciesCore competencies include solid state laser and nonlinear optics design, development, construction and testing. Laser types include bulk-crystal and fiber formats, lamp and diode-pumped. An extensive background in basic materials understanding and characterization allows Q-Peak to transition new laser and nonlinear materials from initial discovery to deliverable systems that meet a wide range of environmental conditions, allowing generation of new wavelengths from THz to the deep-UV. Engineering disciplines include optical, mechanical, thermal and electronic, supporting complete laser systems development. Current Research Thrusts Include:
- Sponsor: Cambridge University, UK - Objectives: Deliver multi-wavelength Ti:sapphire laser system for aircraft-based atmospheric measurements. - Sponsor: HEL-JTO - Objectives: Develop high-power (kW) Tm:fiber lasers for directed-energy applications. - Sponsor: Navy - Objectives: Demonstrate high-power blue-wavelength source for non-acoustic underwater sensing and communications. - Sponsor: Lockheed Martin - Objectives: Develop and deliver high-power mid-IR source for laser ultrasonic testing of aircraft parts. Area Leadership
Dr. Peter Moulton, VP/CTO oversees daily operations and develops new business areas. Dr. Moulton has over 30 years of experience in laser systems R&D, including work on new materials, laser design, commercialization of technology and new applications development. In addition, Q-Peak's Senior Staff includes members with 20-30 years experience (each) in laser and nonlinear optics systems development.
