At PSI we have a long history of both active and passive spectroscopic techniques for a wide variety of applications. These methods include: chemiluminescence, resonant absorption, plasma emission, and fluorescence. We have also developed a technique known as spark induced breakdown spectroscopy (SIBS) as an analytical tool for toxic heavy metals in soil and airborne particulates.
