Research Support Instruments (RSI), located just outside of the DC area in Lanham, MD, is seeking an entry-level Engineer/Scientist interested in developing skills in electrical testing, optical testing, and calibration for application on space flight hardware. This position will be supporting Naval Research Laboratories (NRL) programs performing systems concept development, design, analyses, hardware development, integration and test, operations, and data analysis.
RSI supports the optical analyses of the next generation space borne compact coronagraphs (CCOR) teaming with NASA, NOAA and Naval Research Laboratories (NRL) for multiple space weather and heliospheric imaging sensors on various satellites. Tasks may involve custom software development, test system development, certification, and calibration. Emphasis is placed on interest and experience in optical test, design, and analysis.
BS Degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, or Physics is required. Masters or equivalent work experience is preferred. Knowledge of Matlab, IDL, and/or Python is a plus. Applicant must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
