Physical Sciences Inc., located north of Boston in Andover, MA, has a career opportunity for a Chemical Engineer to develop and scale-up new chemical processing technologies from laboratory/batch to pilot-scale/continuous processes. Example technology areas include the recovery of trace elements from industrial waste and atmospheric water harvesting.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
• Material design, experimental synthesis and characterization
• Formulation and system integration
• Scale-up for pilot and industrial scale implementation
• Techno-economic analysis
The ideal candidate would possess a PhD or a Masters with relevant experience (PhD 0-2 years, Masters 2-4 years) and have a demonstrated background in laboratory research, chemical process development, and materials design and synthesis. Preferred skills include analytical laboratory instrumentation (GC-MS, NMR, ICP-OES/MS, FTIR), experimental design & data analysis, and knowledge of chemical engineering software (Aspen Plus, DFT). Candidates are expected to be strong contributors to existing programs while exploiting the opportunity to develop their own research activities in allied areas.
A successful candidate must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, chemists and industrial partners, requiring strong written and verbal communication skills.
