Mechanical Engineer – Unmanned Systems

The InstantEye Robotics Division of Physical Sciences Inc, located just north of Boston in Andover, is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to drive the development and production of the next generation of small military unmanned aerial systems. In this position you will design and refine prototypes into robust manufacturable designs, provide mechanical guidance to greater team of hardware and software engineers, debug problems swiftly and efficiently, optimize prototype designs for low cost and high throughput manufacturability, and push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems.

Applicants for the position should demonstrate proficiency with injection molded component design, PCBA interface and mechanical layout specification, experience in designing servo and electro-mechanical systems, knowledge of materials and structural modeling/optimization, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing knowledge with application for machining specification, as well as design experience with high-tech consumer, aerospace, robotic, or military devices.

Qualifications for the position include a BS or higher in mechanical engineering or equivalent knowledge, 3-5 years of mechanical design experience (concept to production) with SolidWorks 3D modeling software, mechanical and thermal test and analysis experience, knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, stamped and formed sheet metal, etc.), as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
