Lasers are being applied to a broad range of applications that involve energy being deposited in a material in a manner that alters the state of the material or structure. These applications range from sculpting the cornea for improved vision to high power devices for speed of light weapons on the future battlefield. PSI has a 30 year history of the study and understanding of the laser/material interactions which is the enabling technology for these applications.
